Plate 6 – Owl Eggs (1896)
These lovely eggs come from Coloured Figures of the Eggs of British Birds, published in 1896 by Henry Seebohm. A wealthy steel manufacturer, Seebohm devoted his spare time to studying both ornithology as well as oology, the study of eggs. These gorgeous images were originally drawn to the scale of the eggs they depicted.
